Shine!

Psalm 27:1 says, “The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

There is an issue in the world with light. Light exposes things, it exposes us. We are spiritual beings who are slowly watching the light disappear from the world. What is the answer? We have to be okay with our lights shining. I am not speaking of church or religion. The light that dwells within cries to shine and if it is not allowed to, darkness settles upon us.

Fear(false evidence appearing real) can make us ashamed of who we are or once were and therefore, we fail to shine. We are afraid that people will reject what we have to say because we are what? Human?! We have all made mistakes and before the day is over ,will probably do it again. That does not change the fact that we are light and we have allowed damage to be done to one another. Hatred runs rampant as we watch killing after killing happen. People call each other horrible names and desire to live down to what they are exposed to on television or sometimes in music.

We are not called to use light to hate but to help guide. Light provides warmth and security. Religion has turned some light-bearers into haters. I am not saying all churches and ministers are bad. I attend a great church but I am not coming from the viewpoint of church. There are millions of light-bearers and many don’t attend church. In fact, many may be turned off by it.

It is always my intent to bring positivity to light. So how do we let our lights shine? Matthew 5:14-16 says, “You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”

Let us be generous with one another. Let the hatred and selfishness fade from our lives. Stop feeding it! We must feed our spirits with things that will increase the love inside and shine on the outside. What will it hurt if we give it a chance?

Until next time…Peace and blessings to you all!
